About
the Artist
 atty
Pieropan Dong lives in rural Auburn and enjoys working in a variety
of media: oils, pastels, watercolors and woodblock printing. Her subjects
include California landscapes, still life and portraits. A graduate
of Boston University with a BFA in painting, she has also studied at
Boston State College and Suffolk University. She has enjoyed plein aire
painting trips to Martinique, Italy, Portugal, Maine, Arizona and Mexico.
A member of Placer Arts League, Arts Council of Placer County, and the
Rockport Art Association in Massachusetts, Patty has won numerous awards
in juried exhibitions, and has several one-person shows. Disappearing
relics are a recurring theme throughout much of her work, capturing
abandoned buildings and cars as nature takes them over. "I like the
theme of something that was once part of our lives and is now forgotten,"
she says. Also an art instructor, Patty has taught at the Pohnpei Island
High School in Micronesia and Del Oro High School in Loomis. She has
taught private lessons to children and adults from 1986 to the present.
She presently teaches art classes at St. Joseph Parish School and Alta
Vista Elementary Schools, as well as Placer County Home School. She
is also the head art docent at Bowman School in Auburn-a position she
has held since 1987.
